How We Build a Website:
A Checklist

We put an amazing amount of time and energy into the websites we build. We need you to be proud of the website you have purchased. We want the passion and drive you have for your company to shine through your website. We will constantly listen to your feedback to ensure that your website becomes what you had envisioned.

We go through numerous steps, many more than what is outlined below. There are many small steps in between, but this gives you an idea of the attention to detail we pay.

1. Gather all the marketing materials and logos from the customer
2. Research websites of customer's competition
3. Organize all the information into a comprehensive structure and presentation
4. Sketch the site's appearance on paper
5. Ask customer more questions about their business and industry and any special considerations
6. Ask customer for photos of business and/or employees
7. Study best color options and combinations
8. Draw the front page in art program
9. Draw a basic content page in art program
10. Break the site structure up into DIV sections
11. Document the pixel sizes of each section
12. Research keywords for industry for search engine relevancy
13. Create front page and basic content page DIV layouts in PHP files
14. Complete all the meta information, unique descriptions/titles for each page
15. Create CSS files
16. Create an organizationalsite map
17. Develop clean and great looking images and icons
18. Gather more copy and verbiage from customer
19. Put footers and headers in PHP include files for easy editing
20. Test compatibility with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Safari
21. Finish site structure by creating all pages
22. Add title and alt tags to everything that makes sense
23. Create Flash movies for front page and/or side bars
24. Use JavaScript to display Flash movie for IE7 compatibility
25. Make a robots.txt file
26. Make an XML Sitemap for search engine submission
27. Make an ICO file for browser branding
28. List business in SuperPages and Google for increased Search Engine visibility*
29. Submit URL to popular search engines for indexing*
30. Upon payment, the WHOIS records are transferred over to the new owner of the domain, the customer
